Trial Of The Wan Hai
A stolid twenty and seven year Wan-Hai, Yajian wishes to see humanity brought to its knees and beg for mercy.
Yajian was born from a rice farming Yuan-Ti mother, Zanxing, who took her own human mate, from a recently conquered village. He was one of two offspring who survived; himself human, and his sister a pureblood. Somewhat ashamed of his birth, Zanxing originally thought to discard the child, however the Directorate of Nests, encouraged by a dream, had the boy kept for the Wan-Hai experiment. Yajian knows of his mother and sister, he knows his sister is of pureblood and his mother lives her own life and this will never change but he cares not for a family.
Showing some signs of promise, even for a Wan-Hai, he is trained in small apothecary arts and alchemical ways. On the other side of the same token, he shows a sense of dreaming, foreshadowing and feeling of others around him. His desire to reach out into the unknown and the heavens led him to his training in the way of the gods. Having been rather young when he witnessed his first Ritual of Shedding, he was intrigued and obsessed to learn all there was to this, becoming of a god.
One night one of these gods appeared to him in a dream, opening his eyes to a path that would surely set his place in this world. He may be a lowly Wan-Hai but he would show them that being a human is not all bad.
It might be just what is needed to finish off their enemies once and for all.
